Question: Mr. Bruno Boys Ziza, I have a question for you if you could, I am in a league that starts 3 WR’s. What is the importance of grabbing a top WR and who are your top 10 WR’s for 2008? Thanks! –Corey P; Portland, Oregon
Answer: Corey, thank you for the question and please don’t call me Mr.. You can call me Chris if Bruno Boys Ziza is too formal, but not Mr. Ziza. Haha. The only Mr. Ziza in my mind is my father and he would laugh if you called him that. But none-the-less, I really do appreciate your question and I am just poking a little fun at ya. Last year was my first year playing in 3 WR set leagues, and I played in two of those, along with 1 that started only 2 wide outs. What I can tell you is this, in 3 WR set leagues, you will want at least one stud WR. And, if you can’t get that make sure you get two top 15 WR’s at the very least. The reason for this is simple RB’s are still very important, but the day and age is coming to where WR’s are starting to put up similar points to some RB’s. So even though I still STRONGLY suggest making your top pick a RB, making your second or third pick a WR and following that up with another WR or two in the next few rounds as long as the quality is still there is something that I would practice!
I was lucky enough that in my money league I had 1 stud wide out to go along with two very good WR’s and I dominated that league, just falling short of winning it all! In my other, the Bruno Boys private league (gulp), I was a little lax on the WR position and before I knew it there was a run that pretty much made it hard to really feel comfy drafting a certain WR so high. Then, there would be another run and I really just had a horrible draft. I figured my RB position would help me out, but I just got nailed by the injury bug there too. It was a horrible draft and I never recovered. If you can somehow end up with a top RB, still end up grabbing 2 of the top 15 or so WR’s and then getting another solid RB after that followed up with a very solid QB you should be well on your way to having a very solid season! But, no matter if you even grab your two RB’s right away, make sure to make the next four rounds a time to grab at least two WR’s! Don’t do as I did and wait, hoping that some WR’s will fall. That doesn’t work in a 3 set WR league! In the league that I ended up with a solid top 3 WR situation (really four as I had four top 20 point getters on my squad) I ended up taking charge of that position and jumped to other positions when everyone had to go on a true WR run. That would be an excellent time to grab your DST’s, TE’s and possibly even K’s depending on what round it is. If you can stay one or two steps ahead in the game you will be just fine for 2008! Just don’t forget to draft for depth as injuries do occur!

Q: I browsed your bulletin boards and saw that you all are planning on participating in mock drafts this year. Are they helpful? –Andy G.; Tampa, Florida
A: Thank you for your question. In short, yes, they are helpful, but only as helpful as the people that you draft with make it! In other words, if they are not serious you will not get much help from the mock draft. But, if they take it as serious as you and everyone drafts as they should, it could be a real helpful tool in being able to predict the timing of certain players coming off of the boards. To do that though you will want to at least do a minimum of two, and more if time permits! And don’t do them all in one night, as that won’t help much. Instead, spread them out. Do one right now, one in a few weeks and another leading right up to draft day. That way you can situate your rankings accordingly and be as prepared as much as you can for your draft! My suggestion to you is signing up and doing one or two with Bruno Boys Nation! There is a link in the bulletin boards that is accumulating people for mock drafts. Use this tool wisely and take advantage of the knowledge of our readers and staff! That will definitely give you a leg up on your competition! But as I said, you only get out of it what everyone else puts into it! Have fun!

Q: Ziza, I need your help bro! This is my first year in a serious money league and I really want to take the prize. I had been looking into fantasy football pay sites and while doing so I stumbled across the Bruno Boys website. I really like what I see and I am looking forward to the Webazine’s launch, and I am highly impressed by the professionalism of your site’s articles! Just by looking at the pay sites articles that are available, it shows how much more time every one of you put into your articles compared to the so called “Professionals.” But as I said already, I really want to make the right decision on who to trust with my team this year.
