Bruno Boys Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football Week 12 Rankings - Kickers

With the fantasy football playoffs looming ever so close the Bruno Boys are once again here to remind you not to forget about your kickers. It is an important position to your fantasy team. Many owners reaped the benefits of a huge Monday night game from Cleveland Browns kicker Phil Dawson who kicked five field goals and scored 17 points. On the opposite end of the spectrum were fantasy owners who left New York Giants kicker John Carney in their starting line-up. The Giants deactivated Carney before game time in place of a now healthy Lawrence Tynes. Keeping Carney in their starting line-up cost many owners their game this week and possibly a playoff birth.

We have just showed two examples of why starting the right kicker is so important. Last week 10 different kickers scored in double figures so make sure you start the right kicker, because at this point of the season a kicker can be the difference between making and missing the fantasy football playoffs.

Enjoy the Week 12 version of the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Weekly Rankings – Kickers.

--------------------

1. Mason Crosby (Green Bay Packers) @ New Orleans

Mason Crosby has proved that 2007 was not a fluke. He is once again proving to be a must start kicker on a weekly basis. Crosby has averaged 10+ points over his last five games and he should have another big game this week in a dome on Monday night.
Point Projection: 13 points

--------------------

2. Matt Bryant (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) @ Detroit

Matt Bryant is tied for the league lead hitting 24 field goals this season. He has been one of the most consistent kickers in fantasy football this year. Bryant has a great match-up as the Buccaneers travel to Detroit to face the winless Lions who play in a dome and give up more then 36 points a game at home.
Point Projection: 12 points

--------------------

3. Phil Dawson (Cleveland Browns) vs. Houston

It’s time to give Phil Dawson some respect. He has hit 13 field goals in the Browns’ last four games without a miss, including five field goals Week 11. With the Browns’ offense coming to life with Brady Quinn at the helm, expect another big game this week as the Browns host the Texans.
Point Projection: 12 points

--------------------

4. Stephen Gostkowski (New England Patriots) @ Miami

Stephen Gostkowski has hit 13 field goals in 14 attempts over the Patriots’ last five games. He is averaging more then 10 points a game over that span. Expect another double-digit effort this week against Dolphins.
Point Projection: 11 points

--------------------

5. Neil Rackers (Arizona Cardinals) vs. New York Giants

Neil Rackers started the season a little slow mainly due to the fact that the Cardinals were not settling for field goals too often, but in the last two weeks Rackers is seven for seven on FG attempts. There should be a few more FG attempts coming this week as the defending Super Bowl Champs come to town.
Point Projection: 11 points

--------------------

6. Jason Elam (Atlanta Falcons) vs. Carolina

Jason Elam started the season as one of the hottest kickers. He has only had six FG attempts the past three games, but he has hit five of them. Coming off a tough home loss to the Broncos Week 11 look for the Falcons and Elam to rebound with a big game.
Point Projection: 10 points

--------------------

7. Garrett Hartley (New Orleans Saints) vs. Green Bay

The kicker position has been an issue for the Saints this season. They may have found the answer in Garrett Hartley. He has made all five FG attempts in his two weeks with the team. Hartley is averaging 10 points a game; look for this to continue this week.
Point Projection: 10 points

--------------------

8. Matt Prater (Denver Broncos) vs. Oakland

Matt Prater has a big leg, but has struggled a bit of late. Look for a bounce back week at home in the thin air of Colorado as the Broncos take on the division rival Oakland Raiders. However, make sure their is no snow in the forecast at game-time come Sunday.
Point Projection: 10 points

--------------------

9. John Kasay (Carolina Panthers) @ Atlanta

John Kasay has been a solid kicker all year missing only one field goal in 19 attempts. He should be in line for a big game as the Panthers travel to Atlanta to play the Falcons.
Point Projection: 9 points
|
--------------------

10. Robbie Gould (Chicago Bears) @ St. Louis

Robbie Gould has been held to two and three points respectively each of the past two weeks. Traveling to St. Louis to play the once again struggling Rams seems to be the perfect remedy to get the Bears and Gould back on track.
Point Projection: 9 points

--------------------

11. Nate Kaeding (San Diego Chargers) vs. Indianapolis

After a rough outing in bad weather conditions in Pittsburgh Week 11, expect Nate Kaeding to rebound when the Chargers host the Colts. He should rebound with a nice game this week.
Point Projection: 9 points

--------------------

12. Shaun Suisham (Washington Redskins) @ Seattle

Shawn Suisham has only scored 10 points over the last two games as the Redskins have struggled. A game against a bad Seattle Seahawks team might be exactly what Washington and Suisham need to get back on track.
Point Projection: 9 points

--------------------

13. Ryan Longwell (Minnesota Vikings) @ Jacksonville

Ryan Longwell may be one of the most inconsistent kickers this season if you look at weekly points, but he has only missed five field goals in 23 attempts. If you like to play your kicker based on match-ups, play Longwell this week against the Jaguars.
Point Projection: 9 points

--------------------

14. Rob Bironas (Tennessee Titans) vs. New York Jets

It has been touchdown or bust for the undefeated Titans lately as they have only offered Rob Bironas two FG attempts total the past two weeks. Look for a couple more FG attempts this week as the Titans host the much improved New York Jets.
Point Projection: 9 points

--------------------

15. Joe Nedney (San Francisco 49ers) @ Dallas

The San Francisco 49ers have played much better the past two weeks. The Niners offense scored five touchdowns Week 11 against the Rams. Joe Nedney hit all five extra points, but was held without a FG attempt. The Cowboys will likely hold the 49ers to a couple FG attempts this week.
Point Projection: 8 points

--------------------

16. David Akers (Philadelphia Eagles) @ Baltimore

David Akers has hit his last nine field goal attempts, but he only has seven points in each of his last two games. The Eagles have only offered him three FG attempts in those two games and you should expect more of the same against the Ravens.
Point Projection: 8 points

--------------------

17. Lawrence Tynes (New York Giants) @ Arizona

The Giants stunned many fantasy owners by deactivating the leagues top-scoring kicker John Carney and starting Lawrence Tynes. Expect New York to stick with Tynes the rest of the way and he should have a solid day in what could be a high scoring affair in the desert this week.
Point Projection: 8 points

--------------------

18. Rian Lindell (Buffalo Bills) @ Kansas City

Rian Lindell had a pretty good game Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns despite missing a 49-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter that would have given the Bills a victory. He did manage nine points in the game and he has a solid match-up this week against the Chiefs. Lindell is worth a start if you need him.
Point Projection: 8 points

--------------------

19. Kris Brown (Houston Texans) @ Cleveland

Kris Brown has yet to miss a kick this season, but he doesn’t get enough attempts to be considered a weekly start. Consider Brown a low-end starter this week as the Texans travel to Cleveland to play the Browns.
Point Projection: 8 points

--------------------

20. Nick Folk (Dallas Cowboys) vs. San Francisco

The return of Tony Romo at QB was supposed to spark the Cowboys and Nick Folk to a big game Week 11. The Cowboys won, but Folk was left without a FG attempt for the second straight week. Keep an eye on Folk heading into the playoffs, but make sure you see some results before you start him.
Point Projection: 7 points

--------------------

21. Josh Brown (St. Louis Rams) vs. Chicago

Josh Brown has been up and down this season. He has not been consistent enough to be a reliable fantasy starter on a weekly basis. The Rams have a tough match-up this week against the Bears. Brown would be better served on your bench rather then your starting line-up.
Point Projection: 7 points

--------------------

22. Dan Carpenter (Miami Dolphins) vs. New England

After back-to-back double-digit outings Weeks 8 and 9 Dan Carpenter has slowed down along with the Dolphins offense. Consider Carpenter a low-end kicking option, as he does not get enough FG attempts on a regular basis.
Point Projection: 7 points

--------------------

23. Jay Feely (New York Jets) @ Tennessee

Jay Feely would be ranked higher this week, if not for two reasons. First the Titans have been stingy all year. Secondly with Mike Nugent healthy who knows how long Feely will remain active.
Point Projection: 7 points

--------------------

24. Josh Scobee (Jacksonville Jaguars) vs. Minnesota

Josh Scobee started the season as one of the hottest kickers, but has cooled off substantially. He has not had more then two FG attempts in a game in six weeks. Consider Scobee a number two kicking option at this time.
Point Projection: 6 points

--------------------

25.  Jeff Reed (Pittsburgh Steelers) vs. Cincinnati

Jeff Reed has only missed one field goal this season, but his attempts have been limited and Heinz Field is a tough place for kickers due to its open-end design. Consider Reed a low-end option this week, even against the Bengals.
Point Projection: 6 points

--------------------

26.  Adam Vinatieri (Indianapolis Colts) @ San Diego

Adam Vinatieri had by far his biggest week of the season when he kicked four field goals and scored 15 points as the Colts beat the Texans Week 11. It was the first time all season Vinatieri scored more the seven points, so it would be hard to expect a repeat performance against the Chargers this week.
Point Projection: 6 points

--------------------

27.  Olindo Mare (Seattle Seahawks) vs. Washington

Olindo Mare has only had two FG attempts in the past three weeks and with the Seahawks continuing to struggle this trend may continue. Mare is not worth a roster spot at this point.
Point Projection: 5 points

--------------------

28.  Sebastian Janikowski (Oakland Raiders) @ Denver

Sebastian Janikowski has proved over the course of this season that he still has a big leg, but playing for the Raiders does not offer him enough chances to score points consistently. You can’t afford to take a chance on him this close to the playoffs.
Point Projection: 5 points

--------------------

29. Jason Hanson (Detroit Lions) vs. Tampa Bay

It is an extreme shame that Jason Hanson plays for the Detroit Lions. He has hit six field goals this season of 50 yards or more, but he only has 14 attempts. Playing in Detroit continues to keep Hanson near the bottom of these rankings.
Point Projection: 5 points

--------------------

30. Matt Stover (Baltimore Ravens) vs. Philadelphia

After scoring nine plus points each weeks 7-9 Matt Stover was starting to look like a starting fantasy kicker, but since then he has only managed 4 points in each of the next two weeks. Stover is not reliable enough to be a starting fantasy kicker.
Point Projection: 5 points

--------------------

31. Conner Barth (Kansas City Chiefs) vs. Buffalo

Connor Barth has yet to miss a kick since taking over as the Chiefs starting kicker Week 8. The problem is he plays for the Chiefs and just doesn’t get enough opportunities. He is not worth a roster spot.
Point Projection: 5 points

--------------------

32. Shayne Graham (Cincinnati Bengals) @ Pittsburgh (Thursday)

Shayne Graham has only had five FG attempts in the past five weeks. He has hit four of them, but he does not get enough attempts to warrant a roster spot on fantasy teams this season.
Point Projection: 4 points
