Are you still looking for a productive player off the Waiver Wire?
Need someone to help who has flown under the radar in your league?
Then this is the place to look each week. Weekly Sleepers will focus
each week on some of the most productive players in the game that no
one is talking about.
Nelson Cruz - OF - Texas Rangers - Watch out for the Rangers overall in the next few years. Especially when you take a look at their call-ups just this season. Cruz is just one of a handful of exciting young players in the Rangers pipeline, which brightens their future considerably. Cruz is a diamond in the rough that will help just about every Fantasy Owner if you need help. Here's what he did last week: .409 (9/22) 2 HR, 6 RBI, 6 Runs Scored, 2 SB, 4 Ks, and a 1.276 OPS.
Rajai Davis - OF - Oakland Athletics - I don't really know what else to say here; if you've noticed the Free Agent Specialties and the Waiver Wires, Davis has been all over it all season long. He sometimes struggles to make contact and doesn't have a bunch of power; but week in and week out he's going to help you a lot more than he's going to hurt you. Here's what Davis did this past week: .389 (7/18) 1 HR, 5 RBI, 5 Runs Scored, 4 SBs, 1 K, and an OPS of 1.117.
Willy Aybar - 1B/3B - Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays - Well, it seems like the Rays inevitable fall back to Earth has started (although I wish it would have started before September, but better late than never), but it doesn't diminish the great seasons had by a lot of unexpected players. Aybar is certainly one of those, and he's still available in an awful lot of leagues. Here's what Aybar has done over the past month: .301 (31/103) 5 HR, 16 RBI, 10 Runs Scored, 14 Ks, and an OPS of .892.
Brandon League - RP - Toronto Blue Jays - He had a big hand in embarrassing the Yankees and the Rays recently, and has been a solid performer for them all season long. The good news is, he's likely still available in your league. Here's what he's done over the last month: 12.2 IP, 1 W, 1 L, 1 SV, 2 Holds, 13 Ks, a 0.71 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP. That's some good stuff.
LaTroy Hawkins - RP - Houston Astros - Go figure, he leaves
the Yankees, and he gets good again. Maybe it wasn't Hawkins after
all? Here's what he's done since leaving the MFYs: 8.2 IP, 2 W, 0 L,
1 SV, 16 Ks, 6 Holds, 0.00 ERA and a 0.30 WHIP. Not too shabby at all.
