I don't think Derek Lee deserves to be in a sit/start column because he's a guy you never take off your roster. He may struggle at times but he's a top 3 round draft pick and if I invest that much in a player, he starts for me everyday no matter the matchup.

I would hold on to Hardy. I drafted him both in my keeper and H2H league (along with Braun and Fielder) and unlike most owners, I held on to him despite the early-season struggles. It's a good thing I did because when he was hot, he carried both my teams. Especially in the H2H league, it can be frustrating watching him go through a prolonged slump but every major leaguer has down times and Hardy makes up for them with some incredible stretches.

I heard a lot of hype about Longoria before he was called up, but I honestly didn't believe he'd have this much of an impact.

As for Brett Myers ... damn. I remember when he first broke out and he was flatout DOMINANT. Hopefully he bounces back and rejoins the rotation because I always liked him, even though he is a wife beater.

I still think Headley could be valuable though. I'm not exactly sure if he could be a power hitter in Petco, it's hard to be, but he could definitely get a lot of doubles there. My main problem with him (and the Padres) is that aside from Gonzalez there just isn't really a power bat in that lineup.

Green can hit for power every now and then, Giles is getting old, therefore who is really left? I think that's the reason why Headley could be valuable in keepers leagues in a short amount of time. Power may not be there, but if he could have gap power then that's almost as valuable (and sometimes moreso when it comes to real life).

Justin Duscherer is definitely underrated, especially after his last performance. I heard he tweaked his hip (which he had surgically repaired not too long ago), so he was forced to not swing at anymore pitches through the entire game. However, even though he may have tweaked it he still put up very solid numbers.

I also wish Utley would start doing something. It was actually kind of exciting cheering for a second baseman for an MVP lol..

I doubt Headley's hype came anywhere near Scherzer, Kershaw, or Bruce's earlier in the year. And if Price comes up as expected, its gonna be a bigger race to click the "Add Player" button than in this case.

Headley can't be Bruce because he won't steal bases and Petco Park severely saps hitter numbers. Look at the career splits for Khalil Green and Adrian Gonzalez. 50% more HR on the road and .130 higher OPS. That's ridiculous. He could be a contributor in a deep enough league though.

This post was pretty good, despite the "stats are as follows:". Its a much better longterm perspective than Drew's last "Trade" post which recommended selling Justin Upton, Rick Ankiel, and Pedro Martinez while their values are severely depressed. Those are actually good buys considering they can be obtained cheap for low risk, with very high reward.

As a Harang owner I almost sold cheap for more wins, but as always, unless there is an injury or age factors, a player will almost always approach their career averages. And for Harang, very good ratios with a high strikeout rate should eventually become a regular occurance.

I enjoy these positional weekly rankings but its really irritating to keep reading "His stat line for the week is as follows:" and even more irritating to read "0 SB". I suggest following the lead of the other posters and parsing the stats within the write-up. Use the relevant data to make a case. Anyone can look up the stats.

Jun 9 OF Corey Patterson, recalled last week from Class AAA Louisville when OF Ryan Freel partially tore his right hamstring, was 0-for-24 and 2-for-38 when he hit a home run Sunday against the Marlins.

Looks like he's with the big club.

Patterson has been demoted to the minors. Anyone can sort stats off the free agent list. Some relevant analysis and informed projections would be useful. When a player has a sub .600 OPS and is occupying a position that is played by the 2007 Minor League Player of the Year, it is obvious that he is not long for the job.

Spit - That's why these guys are place on this list and not the waiver wire. Since the wire is thin for the most part, this aims at specific categories. Platoon or not, Patterson will steal a few bags when he plays.

Sometimes I wonder if you guys do your research. Jay Bruce will take over at center for the Reds. Patterson will be reduced to a platoon player or worse. Hairston could soon become a victim to the same scenario with Chase Headley dominating in the minors for SD.

Nice Article. As Always!

I would like to include Carlos Quentin to the list of BULLS. In his 21 AB's last week, he had 8 hits, 3 HR's and 8 RBI's.

Plus, he continues to be a staple in the middle of the White Sox order. It's nice to see a guy like Quentin have a change of scenary in 2008 and shine!

Let's hope he keeps it up.
