I just do not know what to say after the end the of Dover
race. I
wound up with three drivers in the top five which is great, but had two
cars that looked like they could win the race only to stink up the joint in the
end.
I also had two of the best A list drivers this week which is
the only major bright spot on my picks. Carl Edwards could have been the winner
of the race if he took four tires.
Jamie McMurray was doing so well and marched his way to the
lead of the race and then he got caught in an incident with Robby Gordon ending
a rare shot for Jamie to win a race. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch was doing well until
a valve broke on his engine. He wound up finishing last place. I
really had high hopes for this weekend. Now his championship hopes are
really destroyed now.
With no car problems, I feel Jamie and Kyle would have
finished in the top ten.
My C list picks were not good at all compared to other C
list driver finishes from the race. They were not factors at all in this race
from the start.
A list active driver:
Jimmie Johnson -
This is the third time on this list for Johnson. I am picking this driver
because he has one of the best average finishes of all the drivers at this
track and also has one of the best starting averages as well.
B list active drivers:
David Ragan -
This is the seventh time on this list for Ragan. A bit of a gamble with this
guy do to having only one start at this track. His Sprint Cup finishes as
of late have not been all that great though.
Casey Mears -
This is the first time this season Mears makes an appearance. His 2008 season
has been junk so far, but this one track that he likes. His last three
finishes have all been in the top ten. This is one of the rare times this
year you may want to use him
C list active driver:
David Reutimann -
This is the fourth time on this list for Reutimann. As of late this driver has
been really solid for a C list driver and that is why I picking him. This
driver has only one start at this track and it was not great at all, but I feel
another top 20 finish for him this weekend.
Sleeper picks.
Clint Bowyer -
This driver has only two starts at this track, but both times he finished in
the top ten. That gives you not a lot of data on this driver for this
track, but his Sprint Cup finishes as of late have been solid.
Ryan Newman -
His 2008 season has not been that great this year though, but I will put him in
as a sleeper this week. He has one win at Kansas in the past six races,
but as of late his finishes have been poor including a last place finish.
Dave Blaney -
I am going on a gamble with this C level driver as a pick and pray
candidate. He was solid at Dover and I going on a gut feeling that he
will have another good performance in a row. He was good last year at
this track.
