It's the last
Stock Market of the year, and the last chance to
poke fun at your fellow owners! No, in all seriousness, it's your last
chance to see what the thinking of Fantasy leagues are, and how trends are
affecting add/drops. There are 5 full days left in the season (it goes until
Wednesday the 16th), so it might be possible to snag some very late help if
necessary. It also may be a good indicator as to the action going on in
your league, and may give you a hint as to who to look for.
Bulls
Brandon Roy - PG/SG - Portland
Trailblazers - Thought by many Fantasy owners to be done for the year,
Roy has surprised a lot of people
by coming back to play for the final week. In two games since returning
from a groin injury, Roy has
totaled 41 pts and 16 asst while shooting 15-for-30 (50%) from the field.
This was the Roy we saw most of the
season, and if he's available in your league, he may be quite helpful for the
last week. Fantasy league ownership of Roy
jumped 41.2% from 58.1% to 99.3%.
Charlie Villanueva - SF/PF - Milwaukee
Bucks - The Charlie
Villanueva garbage-time experience continues, as the Milwaukee Bucks haven't
been trying since January; and players like Villanueva have gotten an opportunity
to audition for a job. He's been really good and has taken great
advantage of this opportunity. In fact, Villanueva is averaging 18.7 pts and 9.4 reb over his last seven
games. Who would have thought two years ago, that out of Emeka Okafor,
Josh Boone and Charlie Villanueva, Villanueva would be the most productive
draft pick from UConn? Fantasy league ownership of Villanueva jumped
32.5% this week, from 40.4% to 72.9%.
Chris Quinn - PG/SG - Miami
Heat - He's been the story of the directionless Heat, being pretty much the
only player trying on the entire team (except maybe for Ricky Davis, as
garbage-time is Ricky Davis-time). Quinn's been a true diamond in the
rough filling in for the injured Dorell Wright (a diamond in the rough in his
own right) and has auditioned well, and teams across the league have taken
notice, as have Fantasy league owners. Quinn continues to excel in Miami's
starting lineup, despite not having much to work with. He's averaging 15.1 pts
and 5.8 asst in his last 11 games - eight of which were starts. Quinn's
Fantasy league ownership jumped 31.3% from 61.0% to 92.3%.
Bears
Joel Przybilla - C - Portland
Trailblazers - Przybilla had a nice Fantasy run after the All-Star
break, averaging 11.4 reb per game. However, this past April 6th;
Przybilla was trying to block a shot and his hand hit the rim, breaking
it. Team officials have said that Przybilla will miss the final five
games of the season, bringing a close to a nice surprise Fantasy season.
He helped a lot of owners late as a backup Center. Przybilla's Fantasy
league ownership dropped 44.2% from 55.9% to 11.7%. It kind of makes you
wonder what that 11.7% are thinking.
Brad Miller - C - Sacramento
Kings - Miller, a two-time All-Star in his 10th NBA season, averaged 13.4
pts, 9.5 reb and 3.7 asst in a revitalized season after struggling with
injuries last year. He missed three games earlier this season with other
injuries, and he had missed the Kings' last two games with what the club
described as a left leg strain. It turned out to be a stress fracture in
his left leg, so Miller, like Przybilla will miss the final five games of the
season. Miller is usually someone to look at early in the draft anyway; but
considering the way he really bounced back this season, remember the name come
the '08 draft. Miller's Fantasy league ownership dropped 36.4% from 99.6%
to 63.2%. Those 63.2% are going to be very disappointed if they don't
make a move quickly.
Jerry Stackhouse - SG/SF - Dallas
Mavericks - In my opinion, Stackhouse is a terrible Fantasy player anyway;
living up to his nickname "The Mason" for laying so many
bricks. He'll tease you with a couple hot weeks before "fading into Bolivia"
(tm Mike Tyson) shooting 28% for a month. This time, however, another one
of Stackhouse's weaknesses came to the fore; his fragility. Stackhouse
has missed the last seven games with a strained groin and will (supposedly) be
eased back into the rotation. "If it was Game 7, I'd be out there. It's
not, and I just absolutely think I wouldn't be helping myself or helping the
team by coming back before I'm ready," said Stackhouse. In other
words, "I don't feel like playing until the playoffs". That's fine;
it's allowed owners to dump him en masse, leaving his 40.5% FG for the season
on the waiver wire. Stackhouse's Fantasy league ownership dropped 23.9%
from 43.0% to 19.1%.
Thank you for reading and Stock Market will return next October. We'll
see you then!
