Serena Hays here, sitting in for TommyD on this final
edition of NBA Top Point Guards. With a few tips from The Man himself, I
was able to narrow this week's top performers down to three. I struggled
with who to put in that third spot, however, and so I have an honorable mention
at the bottom. Without any more rambling from me, let's see who
helped you win that championship. Here are this week's Top
Point Guards:
Chris Paul, NOH: If you aren't a believer in CP3 by now then
there is no hope left for you. He has dominated the PG position this
season and led the Hornets to the top of the Western Conference. Last
week he averaged 13.6 points, 13.4 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 3.8 steals and 2.8
turnovers in 37.2 minutes. His play continues to impress and inspire
other players and nearly every fan of basketball.
Baron Davis, GSW: The Warriors are tied with Denver
for the 8th spot in the Western Conference and Baron Davis is pushing his team
to keep winning so they can head to the playoffs. Last week he averaged
23.8 points, 9.3 assists, 5.8 rebounds, two steals, one block and four
turnovers (ouch) in 42.3 minutes. The turnovers are high, but as a
fantasy owner you're willing to give that up for the rest of his stats.
The Warriors are Davis' team and if
anyone can edge them into the playoffs, he can.
Deron Williams, UTH: Williams had a break-out
season this year, continuing to improve as a guard and a leader. He and
teammate Carlos Boozer led Utah
to the fourth spot in the West and a playoff berth. Last week Williams
averaged 13.7 points, 13 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 3.7 turnovers in
37 minutes. It's his third season in the NBA and he has proven why Utah
wanted him as the third overall pick in 2005.
Honorable Mention: Raymond Felton of Charlotte.
Last week he averaged 19 points and 10.3 assists. He also had 4.3
rebounds, one steal and four turnovers in 39 minutes. Charlotte
is out of playoff contention, but Felton hasn't slowed down.
That's it for the final edition of Top Point Guard
