Now that Championship week is drawing to a close, it's time
to look at some players who helped you get that victory. I've got three
shooting guards who played amazingly last week, plus an honorable mention at
the end because I had a tie-breaker that threw him off the list. Here are
this week's Top Shooting Guards:
Jason Richardson, CHA: Charlotte
is out of playoff contention, but Richardson
and teammate Raymond Felton haven't slowed down a bit. Gerald Wallace is
done for the season, so Richardson
is again picking up the slack. Last week he averaged 29 points, 6.7
rebounds, 3.3 assists, one steal, 0.7 blocks and just one turnover in 42.3
minutes. Richardson is
reminding Charlotte fans why the
Bobcats wanted to trade for him during the draft. Fans and management are
happy, and your fantasy scoreboard got a little boost this week.
Joe Johnson, ATL: Atlanta
is right on the bubble in that 8th spot of the Eastern Conference. They
control it for now, but Indiana
is just two games back with one week left to play in NBA regulation.
Johnson is doing everything he can to make sure that the Hawks end their
playoff drought and stay in that 8th spot. Last week he averaged 28.3
points, six assists, 4.6 rebounds, 1.7 steals, 0.7 blocks and just 1.3 turnovers
in 43.7 minutes. He definitely wants to play in the post-season and your
championship team benefited from his hard work.
Allen Iverson, DEN: Despite having a broken ring
finger, Iverson hasn't missed a game all season. It's a good thing too
because with the help of Carmelo Anthony, Denver
is tied for 8th in the west with Golden
State. Both guys want Denver
to make the post-season this year and they are both doing their part.
Last week Iverson averaged 27 points, 8.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 2.3 steals and
2.3 turnovers in 45.5 minutes. You can bet that he helped you win the
championship this week, and you can bet that he will help Denver
clinch the 8th spot with the help of Carmelo Anthony, whose stats you can view
on the Top Small Forwards section.
Honorable Mention: Kobe
Bryant of the Los Angeles
Lakers. Kobe averaged 27
points, 5.3 assists, 5.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals, 0.8 blocks and 2.3 turnovers in
39.8 minutes. The Lakers clinched the Pacific Division title with
their win over New Orleans on
Friday, but you can see that doesn't stop Kobe.
It's time to go for home-court advantage throughout the tournament.
That's it for the final edition of Top Shooting Guards.
